BIG GUIDE - ANJAR
58 Kms. from Beirut
A few miles away from Baalbak lies this small village which dates back
to the Omayade period and was used as a Summer resort of Cali El Walid
(724 A.D).
Known as "The desert Palace", the royal city which is almost
square in shape with sides measuring 1300 ft. was designed according to
a Gre-Roman plan. Moreover, Anjar is interesting in view of the priviliged
agriculture position it occupies, it was to come "The gateway to the
west" for her luxurious goods, spices and agricultural products.
